LETTERS TO THE EDITOR 16
POLICY: Don't take it so damn' seriously. The infiniteness of Man is not reduced to a "split infinity"
by wars, taxes, or "experts" who seek to sell
him what he already has in an infinite amount.
SUB-POLICY: We reserve the right to change our minds
from issue to issue, or even from page to page,
if we desire.
SUB-SUB-POLICY: Each Man has the inherent right to be
his own and only "Authority "
SUB-SUB-SUB-POLICY -- We have no objection to "educated
guesses" about Man's destiny -- if there's no
price tag to it, and if the guesser has no objection to our guessing he's only guessing.
TODAY'S "TRUTH" Last week, we got a
TOO OFTEN CAN BE letter from a reader
TOMORROW'S"LIE" which said: "The reason
I like The ABERREE is
because of the many truths I find in its
pages."
Flattering! but not quite correct. To
the best of our knowledge, there isn't a
word of truth in The ABERREE -- nor will
there ever be. On the other hand, we feel
that The ABERREE is as honest, if not more
so, than any publication in the field of
religion or metaphysics. They're devoid of
truth, too; the difference is, they don't
know it -- or if they do, won't admit it.
What is truth) We don't know, and we
don't believe a truth exists on the physical plane -- or if it does, it's about as
transient as a ripple on a mill pond. We
accept as a form of "truth for the moment" that which appears to our senses
and intellectual level more right than
wrong.
When the sun shines and the thermometer registers 100 degrees in the shade
(which it probably won't do much of for
the next few months in the Northern Hemisphere), we say it's "Hot!", and we're
inclined to believe we're telling the
truth. At least, we're not purposely lying about it. Others will agree with us,
probably, UNLESS one happens to be swimming in an iced pool, or sitting in airconditioned comfort in a modern office or
home, or having a malarial chill, or something. To them, it is not "hot" -- so for a
few it is " cpnditioned truth" -- not absolute, undisputable truth.
In a similar vein, snow and ice are
